Weekend Wrap Up

Dear Abigail,
As you know, Mimi did indeed come up this weekend, and yes, she was just up last weekend, but this weekend she had to get her hair did, which is 'did' in Nashville, so why not come up. Not to mention you really needed her to take you to the park!
Before Mimi arrived though, you had a play date with Jacob. AND, at the park! We met Jacob and Miss Kristin, and baby Anna, at the BIG park and let you two kiddos run around while we caught up, mostly on trying to solve your sleeping disorder :) We pushed you in the swings, and you slid down the slides and we even went for a little walk. Afterwards, we headed to Jacobs house for some yummy lunch, and of course, more playing. Jacob has a little sandbox thingy and you loved playing in that, which makes Mommy excited because we're headed to the beach next week and I was a little nervous about the sand part!! I think you are going to love it, no doubt.
After lunch, we let you kids play a little longer and then it was time to head home (and try the dreaded nap routine yet again...) Mommy was exhausted, whether it be just from having a toddler or having a toddler and a baby sister in my belly, so I ended up laying down beside you - well, that and because you were not going to sit still if I didn't and you REALLY needed to rest. Somehow I drifted off to sleep a couple of times, but you just sat and watched a movie the whole time... no nap. again...
BUT, when rest time was officially over, we headed downstairs and low and behold, there was Daddy! He had gotten off work early!! And before long, Mimi was pulling up in the driveway! She, too, had gotten off work a little early!!! Mimi insisted that she immediately take you to the park in the neighborhood (due to the phone call the day before...) so off we went.
That night, Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner (sans Abby!) for our 5 year anniversary!! And Mimi stayed home with you. I begged and begged Mimi to please put you to bed on time and the right way (not in her bed!) because we really are trying to break this sleeping disorder. She promised but sometimes Mimi's interpretation of Mommy's rules get a little, well, scrambled up, not to mention you are just hard to put to bed lately! Well, Mommy & Daddy had plans to go to dinner then a movie. We hit dinner early to catch the early movie (Mommy's bedtimes rolls around pretty early these days!) but when we got to the theatre, our movie was sold out! So we just decided we'd come home and watch Harry Potter!! Well, we tried to think of something to do so we didn't come home in the wrath of bedtime but we couldn't think of anything, even ice cream didn't sound appealing because we were so full from dinner. So, we bucked up and just went home keeping our fingers crossed it wouldn't be too bad. Daddy said he'd bet that Mimi was on the couch with you eating ice cream watching a movie! I just hoped you weren't in her bed! Well... we got home at 7:15, and guess who was in her bed, asleep, with no tears???? YOU! WHAT IN THE WORLD?!!! Yep, Mimi was upstairs in her room just watching you on the monitor and making sure you were truly asleep, but came down when she heard us. She said you had no problem at all going to sleep. None. Not a lick. Seriously girlfriend, what's your deal??! Anyway, I thought it was all too good to be true and just waited, but you pulled through, at least for awhile. Around 10ish, you woke up crying, like a bad dream crying and Mimi tried to get you calmed down. We thought she succeeded but then 5 minutes later you were back in the hallway. At this point Mimi (and Mommy...) knew the inevitable, and we let you sleep in Mimi's bed. While it wasn't a complete bedtime success story, Mimi gets points for A) having you in your bed B) on time C) with no fuss!!! And of course you got some points too!
On Saturday, we headed to school! Yes, I had to stress to you that we weren't 'going to school' but just visiting your school, who was having a carnival! They had jumpy houses and you got to play on the tumblebus, and went 'fishing' and did karaoke, and got your face painted and played and played on the playground! Ryan and Ellie came too and you showed them your classroom and all the fun things to do at your school. We all got grilled cheeses for lunch and sat in the parking lot of the school and ate! Then Daddy, ever so thoughtful, bought you and Ellie snow cones... Yours ended up on the ground, but not after several spills on your white shirt...Ellie was kind enough to share a little of hers, so everyone was happy.
After the carnival, we headed back to the house while Mimi was getting her hair did and tried to get you to 'rest' again. No such luck...
Eventually Mimi got back and we headed back out to run a few errands. Mimi also got to finally see a different side of you - the evil non-napping toddler side, that is. You were a bit of a mess and for once, and i mean for once, did NOT want Mimi to do anything for you and insisted Mommy do it. Mimi was sad (and Mommy a little too!!) but eventually you gave in and let her do somethings, including buy you bubbles (after we spilled a whole container at Toys R Us!!!). Oh, and just to give you a little glimpse into the future, Mimi bought you and your baby sister your first matching outfits!!! And she even got Clara Lee one to match, too!
After shopping, Mommy had to head home to get ready for Uncle Jaybee's birthday dinner. All the adults were going to a fancy dinner! That's rare, and we're glad Uncle Jaybee is getting older so we can do things like that :) Mimi was, as usual, craving that Mellow Mushroom pizza, and thought it was a good idea to take you (non-napping you) to the restaurant. Mommy (and Daddy too!) had different thoughts, but told Mimi she could do whatever she wanted just as long as you were in bed, on time, etc etc. Well, AGAIN, you are such a different person with Mimi. Mimi (and you) said you were perfect at dinner and behaved the whole time, at your pizza, and had an enjoyable dinner... Well, aren't the 2 of you special... And, again, no problems with the bedtime routine, adn this time when Mommy and Daddy got home kind of late, you were still in your bed, so yay for that too!
Sunday was Mother's Day and we thought Mimi was leaving early to head back home to her mommy's house, so we didn't plan anything. But then plans were changed and she ended up staying a little later, so she took you one last time to the BIG park! She taught you how to use your new bubble wand, too! After the park, we headed to Bread and Co for some yummy lunch (to which you did NOT act like you did at Mellow Mushroom...) and then back home where we had to say goodbye to Mimi. You asked both Mimi and Mommy multiple times if Mimi could go to the beach with you and Mommy said EVERYTIME "YES YES and YES" but Mimi said she had to work and couldn't go... We waved goodbye and tried the rest time thing again. It didn't work at first, but an hour or so later, you were fast asleep, clearly exhausted. After 'resting' we played outside while Daddy grilled. It was a beautiful day and we just couldn't be inside at all! Dinner, bath, then bedtime (not too bad of one either, but not as smooth as Mimi's) wrapped up our weekend baby girl! It's off to school this week, then heading to the beach on Saturday!!! We all are so excited!!!!!
Love you, and keep up the better sleeping habits, too!! We really need those to work out for us at the beach :)

LOVE YOU!!!
