The Fair!

Dear Abigail,
We set off to visit the fair on Saturday but as we were walking out the door, it started pouring down raining.  You and Mommy were both devastated.  We swung by Ryan's house (they were going to meet us at the fair) and Ellie and her fam met us there and, based on Daddy's weather forecasts, we decided to head to Goofballs instead of the fair.  Ryan and his fam tried the fair anyway and while they had a little bit of dry weather, the majority of the day was spent indoors due to rain, so I think we (Daddy) made the right call!  While Goofballs is indeed NOT the fair, we all still had a good time there!

Even Daddy and Uncle Jaybee had some fun!
You got to ride the bumper boats for the first time and LOVED it!  The excitement on your face just made me more anxious to get to the fair!!

After Goofballs we all went to lunch at a Greek place that was fab and then headed home to rest.  Well, you ran to the store with Daddy, Mommy showered, and Kate rested, but anyway, we did a few things and then headed out to a Sounds game for Daddy's work.  You went last year with Dad and loved it so this year Kate and I joined you two.  You were SUPER excited to hear there would be face painting and the face painter did NOT let us down.  You asked her to surprise you on your face, so you sat patiently while she painted...

And then got to see the most beautiful face painted ever!!!! You loved it.  Everyone did actually!  We were all super impressed.

And, if that wasn't enough, you asked to get your leg painted.  You specifically asked for an octopus and told the lady exactly why - "Ash-ash calls Clara Lee Nanner-puss and so she loves octopuses and I want to show her one".  You asked, and you received...

Quite impressive huh!!! You told me that Clara Lee would want to cut your leg off!  Ha!!  You had fun with a few new friends (Lilly and her big sister Madelyn) and your friend Cameron and his little Sister Skylar were there, too.  Everyone had fun running around like crazy, enjoying the beautiful night.  That is, until this guy walked up...

Actually, and as you can plainly see, it wasn't so much of this guy, but his pal Darth Vader.  For some reason, the Sounds game had, oh, I don't know, 40+ people dressed in Star Wars attire and the walked all out onto the field.  They actually walked right past you at the beginning of the game to walk out onto the field, but you didn't notice and we sure didn't bring it to your attention but then later in the game, oh Darth and a couple storm troopers decided to come to our area (which was like a picnic area on the third base line) and take a few pictures of those who wanted it.  Now, again, you seemed to walk right by him without noticing but I knew it was coming and I didn't want you to be freaked out suddenly, so I politely told you to look up and that everything was going to be okay.  Well, as expected, you didn't trust me and you freaked.  Thankfully he didn't stay too much longer in that area but you kept your eyes open for him the rest of the time.  What's funny is that later in the game, Daddy and I were sitting at table talking to some friends when you came running up and hid under the table.  We looked up and sure enough a storm trooper was coming.  Well you started screaming "I don't want that black guy to come up here! I don't want that black guy to come up here!" really loudly (referring to Darth Vader,  of course).  I immediately tried to calm you down but Daddy and our friends were all bursting with laughter and then I realized, the friends we were talking to, they happened to be black friends! Daddy immediately cleared it up that you are referring to Darth Vader and have no clue about 'black' people versus 'white' people.  Everyone thought it was hilarious, well, except you, you just kept saying it over and over again!  I have to say, we were crying we were laughing so hard.  And you had no clue what we were even laughing at.  I'm just proud to say that you do not recognize the color of someone's skin as a way to describe someone.  I hope that will stay with you forever.  But anyway, back to the game!  So we laughed, you cried, finally they were gone and we figured it was about time for us to be leaving anyway.  We had to bribe you with cotton candy (not to eat, though, just to take home with us) but finally we made it home.
Sunday came and I was ready to go to the fair.  Enough of this weather, we were going rain or shine.  But we did have to wait until Kate woke up from her nap.  So we did... and you were ever so anxious.  Finally we made it and it was SO worth the wait.  You LOVE LOVE LOVE the fair, just like Mommy.  We got there and met Ellie and her crew and the two of you immediately jumped on the first roller coaster you saw - and the rest is history...

Ellie was our brave girl holding her hands up!!

LOVE these next two pics!

After that, you found another coaster, and again, chose the first seats!

You went on the bee ride, which you may notice you were alone on this ride.  That's because Ellie had a small minor accident and bumped her eye on something.  I say small minor with a bit of sarcasm because she currently is sporting a big black eye!!  It was crazy how quickly it got black but she was a trooper and was back on the rides in no time!
And Katie Bug got to ride some rides, too!  She loved them as much as you!
Then Kipper joined in.  You were so sweet to make sure he was safe and happy!

A little bit later, Ryan met up with us and it was triple the fun!

You were dying to ride the ferris wheel and Miss Leigh volunteered to ride with you.  She said the two of you were laughing and loving every minute of it!
Oh, and the swings!!! Aunt Steph, Miss Leigh and I all tried to ride the swings with you and the kiddos but we were denied because we were wearing flip flops.  We were heart broken, but watching you ride the swings for the first time made it all better.  You were having SO much fun!!
See that lady in the white shirt behind you?  She saw me taking pics and when she got off she asked for my phone number and sent me a couple pics of you while the ride was going on and you were looking back at Ryan!  I thought that was so nice of her!  Look how happy you are!
And look how happy the 3 amigos are!!!
There were lots and lots of other rides, too, and the tea cups brought on a funny story.  Aunt Steph rode with you on this one to help turn it around and around.  Well, she got a little too excited and the ride had stopped and she kept twirling and twirling and twirling it!  The ride man was pushing his horn button to make her stop but she just kept going.  Finally I had to walk over there and yell at the top of my lungs for her to stop!!!  She didn't realize what she was doing, or that the ride had even stopped.  To say the least, the adults can have fun at the fair, too!
We ate dinner and sent Katie bug home with Daddy, but you kept on riding and riding and riding.  Another trip on the swings for the 3 of you!
On the ship - which was actually really cool!
And then Ellie had to say goodbye.  Then it was Mr. Lee, Ryan and you and Mommy left.  We were going to stay as long as we could.  That's how much we heart the fair!  So next up was the pirate ship and Mommy and Mr. Lee got to ride this one with y'all!
Oh my gosh, it was SO fun riding with you.  I love watching how happy you get and how giddy and how you say "Oh my gosh my belly feels funny" over and over and over again!  So much fun!
You two rode the hang glider and loved that, too.  You loved them all.
And you and Ryan were being so sweet to each other, even if he did call girls disgusting a couple times earlier that day :) I even got the two of you on video showing the love!!!  I'll use that for blackmail!!
I had to ride the last two rides with you and Ryan because an adult was needed.  That should tell you the level of rides you two were wanting to do!  You really wanted to do this one, but you had to be 52 inches tall!!!  Who knows when you will be that tall!  So I had to ride the tilt a world,  or whatever it's called, which was fun and little dizzy for me, but then you two wanted the Scrambler.  Man alive that one looked crazy, but you begged and Mr. Lee said no way was he doing that one again (Ryan and him did it a couple nights before) so I got volunteered.  I had to sit on the outside and good thing because you two were pushed up to me immediately.  That ride went so fast and spun us around and around and around.  I was crying I was laughing (or hurting????) so bad and you two were just a giggling like crazy!  After that, I had to take a minute to catch my breath and balance myself!
It was getting ridiculously late at this point, so Ryan and Mr. Lee left but you begged for one more ride.  I had 4 tickets left for me (you had the wristband) and you requested the ship, so the ship it was!
It was 10:00 by the time we got off and I insisted we head home although you begged for more.  I promised you we'd come back and, more importantly, that Disney would be so much fun for us all!  As we were walking out, the fireworks started.  You were SO happy I thought you might cry.  You have been waiting for more fireworks now that you like them and this was a perfect ending to a fantastic night.  We got in the car, rolled our windows down and reminisced about the perfect day at the fair.  Or at least I did.  You almost fell asleep :)
We finally got to bed and you slept until 9:50 the next morning!  A new record for sure!
SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!  Love you Abs!!  I cannot wait to ride more rides with you, where ever we go!

Mini Vacay at Mimi's

Dear Abigail,
Because your summer hasn't been loaded with fun, you spent a whole week at Mimi's, again. But this time, all by yourself.  Well, I think Clara Lee snuck in there a few times, but overall, it was you and Mimi hanging out.  You did spend Sunday night with Clara Lee, but promised Mimi that you'd spend every night after with her!  You did lots of swimming and playing and lots of help watering Mimi's flowers, but Mimi also took you to see the ducks at the Peabody.

After the ducks, you road around downtown Memphis on the trolley.
There's you and the famous empty pyramid!
Another day, just you and Mimi ventured out on your own.  I thought it was really good that just you and Mimi did something, and from the pics I think you enjoyed it yourself!  Mimi first took you to the Memphis zoo where it looks like someone slaughtered a tiger and let you pet it... seems odd to me, but whatever...

Mimi said you two were able to cover a lot of ground, but that you did need the wagon and she said make sure to take a stroller to Disney!!

You are getting very good at being a bird whisperer!

And I can only imagine what this was about...
Mimi was super proud of the lunch she brought for you and her - and she should be!  No junk food!  Hooray!!!  She even made you a homemade lunchable!

And I'm going to guess Mimi wasn't too crazy about you climbing all over these tables...

Looks like you did some camel riding...

 And giraffe spotting...
After the zoo, you two ran by the mall to check out a few things including the carousel!
And you convinced her to let you do the eurobounce!  Here's you doing a flip!!
As if that wasn't enough, she took you by the Disney store, and, well, let's just say that you are well equipped for our trip, fo sho!
THEN, you two ventured to the new splash pad near Mimi's house.  Now, here's where things go a little south... It looks like you are having a blast. Mimi says you were, indeed, having a blast.

Lots of fun running from one spot to the next.  Problem with that is, you need to watch where you are running.  You ran smack dab into another boy's head and immediately this popped up...

Yeah, that's pretty much the biggest knot I've ever seen.  To say the least, it hurt you pretty bad and the splash pad day was done.  Mimi was a little nervous on what to do, so we just watched you for a bit and she even let you swim at her house, just to keep you awake for a couple more hours!
Everything turned out fine, or well, will eventually turn out fine.  The knot went down a little with the help of some ice and eventually the swelling drained into your nose.  Currently (4 days later!), it's draining into your eyes, so it looks like you have two black eyes!  You are excited though because you say you have 2 purple eyes and purple eyes are cool in your book.  All that to say, you now have a new nickname - knothead! I just told Mimi today that I have no idea how we've made it almost 5 years without going to the ER (knock on wood!).  Just tonight you fell down the stairs with your arms and legs in the toy tunnel - you were trying to be a scary monster and forgot the wooden staircase was right there.  Milk - that's my answer.  Lots of milk = lots of calcium = strong bones = no ER trips :)
Sidetracked... Looks like you had a great time at Mimi's!!!  I picked you up on Friday morning at our half way meeting spot and we weren't home an hour and you were out the door playing all afternoon with the neighbor's niece, Briley.  You two played all day, jumping from our house to her house, to the other neighbors pool.  You even stayed with them and had dinner while we went to eat Mexican!  It's always fun times with you, Knothead!!  Love you!
