Marathon Weekend 2013

Dear Abigail,
We had our annual "Marathon" weekend with the family, and while it was a super wet weekend, it was, as expected, quite entertaining and fun!  You went to school on Friday while Mommy and Kate picked up Lizzy in Nashville (she flew in with Uncle John, but he had some work to do, so she decided to hang with us!).  We picked you up and went to eat lunch in downtown Franklin.  Lizzy was impressed with you because I had offered to get you a cupcake, since you already had lunch, and you told me that you already had a cupcake at school.  So, you just sat there while we ate lunch!  Such good self control.  Mommy's hard work is paying off :)
Not too long after lunch, we got the news that Mimi, Ash-ash, Clara Lee, and none other than Nacho, were almost to our house.  You were VERY excited, so excited that you went outside and waited and waited.  And waited... Come to find out, they made a pit stop at TJ Maxx.  You were not happy about that BUT eventually they made it to the house and the fun got started!  You were ever so excited about Nacho, but, over the weekend your love for him became less and less.  You didn't really appreciate him biting you multiple times.  Granted, you were playing with him or messing with him while he was eating, but all the same, he did bite you, and tears were shed.  I think you still love him, just maybe a little leery of getting super close to his face!
We decided this year we would head to dinner early.  We always eat at Mellow Mushroom and we always end up waiting forever and getting in later than we anticipated.  So this year we decided early.  Well... that didn't work out to well for us.  We didn't get out of the house as soon as we would have liked and there was still a wait.  So we waited.  You won your duck and some little boy gave you a ball and finally, after they almost gave our table away!, we sat down to eat, and did we eat!  We love some MM.  Lizzy was still hanging with us and eventually Uncle John joined in.  We headed home and low and behold, Pic-pic and Uncle Jay were there waiting on us to get home so they could head out with Daddy to get their dinner (we decided no boys this year, too!).
We got situated with beds pretty early and were asleep in no time because we had a big day ahead of us.  A big, wet day, that is!
Saturday morning Mommy, Mimi, and Ash-ash woke up to find it pouring down raining, but we headed downtown anyway for our 4th Country Music Marathon.  One day you can do it with us!
While we were getting drenched, you were at home with the rest of the crew staying dry.
We finished the race and met everyone at Hard Rock Cafe for some yummy lunch and then we headed over to Robert's for our annual Hot Rod Hustler race celebration.  And, going with tradition, you kiddos entertained the crowd with your suave dance moves.  It had cleared up a little bit with the weather, but not much, and so that evening, Daddy grilled out steaks for everyone.  Well, you had hot dogs, but I think you prefer that over steak anyway.  You and CL played all afternoon and even got to sleep with Mimi that night.  We were all pretty tired (I mean, we did do a half marathon and all!) and so we called it in pretty early.  Sunday morning, we had a delicious breakfast and then CL and her crew had to head home.  Mimi and Pic-pic stuck around and because it wasn't actually raining, we all headed to the Franklin Festival for some fun.  And everyone was having that fun...
That would be Daddy and Uncle Jaybee... We found some yummy food (corn dogs!!!) and some yummier dessert (ice cream!!!) and walked around trying to burn off that energy.  We love all the festival in Franklin because everyone brings out their dogs, or in come cases, their horses that look like dogs in the face...
You were VERY hesitant on touching this dog, although you asked EVERY SINGLE PERSON with a dog if you could pet it.  Katie Bug really liked this horse dog, too, and while I am pro 'big dog' for our pet (and you and Daddy are more small dog), I think this is a little much for our house, what do you think???
After petting all the dogs in Williamson County, we headed to ride the horses.  You LOVE riding those horses.
and Elliebean does too!!!
After spending too much money to ride miniature horses for 4 minutes, I decided we should waste our money on more thrill seeking rides, so we headed towards the 'rides'!  Okay, so I have to admit, I was a little concerned you weren't going to ride anything but the carousel, but you immediately spotted the roller coaster and my concern was over. You and Ellie LOVED the coaster.  I mean, loved it.  And we loved watching you love it!

Ellie was brave enough to hold her hands up.  You, however, were trying to convince her to put them down!!!
After the coaster and the carousel, Ellie and her fam headed home for naps, but I just couldn't resist letting you keep riding.  You were having so much fun, and, to be honest, it was making me more excited about our Disney World trip in September.  I know you are going to love it now that we had so much fun riding rides!!

And you finally got brave and held up your arms. Granted, it was on the boats, but baby steps girlie!

The funnest ride was when you and Mommy got on the 'tea cups' or whatever they were called.  We had SOOOO much fun twirling around and spinning and laughing and screaming.  After that ride, I decided to tell you that Disney World would have all those rides and more and you about exploded!!!!  You have not stopped talking about riding rides at Disney World.  You even want Daddy and Kate to ride with us next time!  We will see.  We will see...
A fun fun fun marathon weekend!!!  Love you thrill seeker!!
