Easter 2011 -Neighborhood Egg Hunt

Dear Abigail,
Our Easter is pretty active so far, and it's not even Easter day yet. We did lots of egg hunting and party going and avoiding bunnies -but let me start from the beginning...
The first activity we did for Easter was our neighborhood Easter egg hunt. It was on the Sunday before Easter, at the neighborhood park. All the kiddos from the neighborhood showed up and I couldn't believe there were that many kids! They divided the hunt into 3 different stages, according to ages, so your age group (3 and under) got to hunt on the actual play ground! And we got to go first!!! But, right before we were about to start the hunt, guess who showed up? That's right, the Easter Bunny. You didn't see him at first, but Mommy felt like I needed to point him out to you because if you got to hunting and he crept up on you, you would have, well, it would have not been good... So I pointed him out to you, letting you know that he was here and just to wave to him, but no, no, you weren't interested in waving, only interested in Daddy holding you, and he did - until the egg hunt started. You struggled with wanting to hunt the eggs, but just couldn't quite do it knowing that crazy looking creature was lurking somewhere near by. You would run to an egg and run right back to your basket and throw it in and then beg Daddy to hold you. He'd then have to point another egg to you, and you'd run to that one, thinking this is it, then run back and throw it in the basket, but then Daddy would point out another one for you!!!! Poor baby, you were so worried about that darn bunny!!!

Here's you pre-bunny discovery....(and ready for the hunt)
And here's post-bunny discovery...
running for eggs...

I'm not sure how I got you to stop and smile, but it's the one photo of you semi-smiling...

Really in a hurry to get that egg...
We finally reached our max of eggs, so we went under a tree to open them, which I thought would keep your mind off things...
But it didn't - you kept looking...
And worrying...
And looking, even while swinging...

Still on the lookout...
and still worrying...

seriously! still worrying and searching...

At one point, and I knew this point would come, the Easter bunny made its way back to the playground, and you just so happen to be looking for him the other way. He was feet away from you and you spotted him. You were so shocked you just raised your hand and waved, then said "I'm Abby. I'm 2" and held up 2 fingers. He waved back and headed your way, but then you ran straight into the tunnel!! I have to say, you handled yourself well, considering the circumstances!
Here's "Mister" Easter bunny (as you called him) looking for you in the tunnel...
And here's you, making it very obvious you did not want to talk to him anymore!!!!

Once we realized there was no getting out of the tunnel, we decided to wrap things up and head home. I also decided that I wasn't even going to try to take you to see the Easter bunny at the mall!!! That's okay, I like that you are apprehensive about strange creatures walking around trying to hug you and all :)
Love you baby girl - lots more easter to come!!!
