Dear Abby,
Ellie's 5, Ellie's 5! Woo-hoo-hoo, Ellie's 5! While this wasn't necessarily FOR Ellie's birthday, it did fall the week of her birthday. So, Frozen. Have I mentioned you/Kate/we all are obsessed with it???? So the great movie gods of Hollywood decided to release a sing-a-long version of Frozen in the theatre. Well, if that wasn't genius. Now, yes, I realize neither you or Ellie can read, but that does NOT mean you can't sing and sing is what we did (yep, I said we because you better believe I was singing!). It worked out perfectly. I picked you and Ellie up from school a little early from school, right before lunch. Which on a total side note, these 'genius' gods of Hollywood decided a 12:45 and 3:15 showtime, which seems odd to me because those are the times when the kids who CAN read, are in school. Anyway, seemed a bit odd and sure enough the next week they changed the times. But anyway, we were headed to the 12:45 time. We ran through McDonalds to grab some nuggets (because yes your mom is too cheap to buy food at theatre other than the big thing of popcorn!) and we even ran by Walgreens to get some candy (see above statement). You two insisted on getting your pic with the Lego girl....
And then we got situated and had our little picnic...
And then it began! It was awesome and you and Ellie loved it. At first you would just kind of sit there, singing a little bit, but when Let It Go came on, you both jumped up and ran to the front of the theatre and did all the motions and twirls and, of course, sang your heart out! Thankfully there were only a couple other folks in the theatre and they were singing their hearts out, too! That's me trying to take a picture of you two dancing! So much fun and you two stayed down the rest there the rest of the time and every time a song would come up on you would pop up, ready to perform!
On Friday, we headed to Mexican for our usual dinner, but since Ellie's birthday was on Saturday (okay - so really it wasn't, it was on Sunday BUT her birthday party was on Saturday and she insisted that her birthday was on Saturday, too, and since we were making a 10 hour drive on Sunday, Uncle Jaybee decided to just play along and act like her birthday was on Saturday along with her party!) SO - since Ellie's birthday was on Saturday (wink, wink) we got to sing to her at Mexican. You LOVED it and I think, despite the embarrassment, she loved it too!!
On Saturday, we headed to Monkey's Treehouse to play with Ellie and all her friends!
It was a fun birthday party with lots of climbing and chasing and swinging, you know, the typical thing that goes on at a monkey's treehouse :)
Right after Ellie's birthday party, like literally we got in the car and headed that way, we started our drive to Snowshoe, West Virginia, for our annual ski trip. Before we left (and yes, Ellie and fam are going with us!) you gave Ellie her special present. Mommy may have gotten this idea from Aunt Ash-ash, but regardless, I was super excited about it.
It's a photo book of you and Ellie - 5 years in the making. It has hundreds of pictures of you and Ellie, from the day she was born until just a few weeks ago!
It has everything from the beach trips to the time you two painted your entire bodies to Carnton concerts, to, well, everything! It's something she will hold onto forever and I can't wait to make a 10 years in the making one!!!
Happy Birthday Ellie Bean! Snowshoe, here we come!
